Another early rise today. And waking up in Salthill overlooking Galway Bay was really gorgeous.
The host of our B&B was right--It was totally worth it. (B&B was called Four Winds by the way!)

And the breakfast they served was traditional Irish fare. Beans and sausage and black pudding and toast and tomatoes and mushrooms. Cooked to order!
The other guests staying at the B&B were other Irishmen who were on holiday and just wanted to get out of their town. They suggested the best route to get to the Cliffs of Moher and they were spot on. The host and them helped provide a map and directions that kept us off the main road and instead took us along the Coast so we saw much more of the shore.
We left from Four Winds and I saw ANOTHER rainbow!

And the host's dog. (Super cute thing.)
So the road we took leaving Galway to the Cliffs of Moher was the coast road which was a bit longer than the main road, but it had scenic country views and ocean vistas so--
worth it.
We eventually made it to the Cliffs of Moher, and walked from the parking area to Hag's Head. One of the farthest viewing points officially on the Cliffs and MY GOSH.
Well first off-
It started off mostly sunny, but there were bursts of rain and cold wind.
And the cliffs are hundreds of meters up. So, strong winds seemed super perilous.
Plus the ground was a bit muddy in areas.
And it was STEEP.
Like, not just the cliff, some parts of the path.
But it was so worth it.
It's gorgeous in an awe inspiring way. It boggles the mind-like this structure juts its way out of the sea-defying what you expect of coastlines. There is no gentleness to it-it's harsh lines force their way into the sky from the sea and yet the ground at the top of the cliff is sloped gently. But if you see the cliff, you cannot see the top (not really).
It's....
it is what it is.
****speaking of, its 1am here and we have to leave crack of dawn to make ouf flight home, so pause here while I go to bed in this amazing castle.
Good night everybody!!
